An Introduction is Necessary

Posted by: | November 17, 2008 | 1 Comment |

I am a U.K. teacher and a previous Head of a large Faculty of Science managing and leading 21 staff.

I have gained recognition as an excellent teacher by being awarded the Chartered London Teacher, CLT, status and also the Advanced Skills Teacher, AST, status.

The former was obtained by meeting the 12 CLT standards + professional reflection and was assessed by the Headteacher of my school. This has provided me with Fellowship of the College of Teachers, FCoT. The latter was gained through external assessment of E.T. & A.S.T. standards and verification by an Ofsted Chief Inspector, appointed for this purpose by the DCSF – a whole day very rigorous assessment!

I was the first person to gain both these prestigious awards in my school. This has put me now on the Leadership Scale and am currently assisting colleagues prepare for CLT , one for AST and several others gain experiences to eventually apply for AST status.

The beauty of it all is that I have become an even better teacher as a result and I would recommend these to colleagues if they are eligible and have a passion about excellent teaching and learning in their classrooms.

I shall be more than happy to share some of my resources with colleagues who may have an interest in these areas. These will be put up soon on this site. Keep looking.
